Milestone – Buell Maintenance Schedules Done

Not much to say here, except:

For as few bikes as Buell produced over the years, they sure did have a lot of maintenance requirements.

From 4 Clicks to 3

We just completed a significant restructuring of the amount of work it takes a service writer to generate a ServiceSheet. Usability testing showed us that we could combine two screens of information into one and significantly reduce the number of clicks it takes to go from VIN entry to PDF.

One click might not seem like much of a reduction, but IT IS a 33% reduction. That one click and reading all the information on the page might have taken 15 whole seconds to process. If you’re doing 40 services per day, that’s a savings of 10 minutes. That’s an extra smoke break, coffee break or bathroom break for you. Over the course of the week, it might just be enough extra time to actually sit down and eat your lunch.

Obligatory Simpsons quote:

(Apu comes back to his store after closing it down for 5 minutes –
Hans is waiting)
Hans Moleman: You cost me 5 minutes of my life and I want them back!
Apu: I am sorry, sir.
Hans Moleman: Never mind, I would have just wasted them anyway.

Don’t let this happen to you.
